KarenCarroll-action.jpgThe new CPD scheme will be starting soon and we felt that the SCCO should find ways to help you with it. There are unfamiliar terms and new skills needed to even understand it, let alone comply with it!

With this in mind we have created a conference to give you confidence in doing ‘objective activities,’ in supportive surroundings with all the elements we enjoy – a mix of lectures and practical workshops, experts to inspire you, a beautiful venue (bring your swimmers and golf clubs!) and plenty of time for meeting friends.

Speakers

  • Jo Wildy on how osteopathy can be researched without losing its identity.
  • Pete Cockhill will give an exclusive update us on his exciting BabyCheck research project.
  • Anne Jaekel on the obstacles and solutions to the difficulties of researching osteopathy.
  • Karen Carroll will share her experiences of the steps and challenges in paediatric data collection.
  • Ben Katz, iO president, will open the conference with a review of Osteopathy’s “State of the Nation”.
  • Steve Vogel will be speaking on "Writing for publication: using case reports to share practice and knowledge".

Practicals

Our various workshops have been designed to support and give us practise in 'objective activities' and tips on methods of enquiry. There will be time to socialise (or have 'peer discussion' as it now called!) at lunch and in the evening.

We are already familiar with peer observation and case discussions, but we can all benefit from practical workshops to demystify and rehearse the various 'objective activities'. Our hope is that we will all go back to our practices with enthusiasm and new skills to 'dig on', feeling more confident and competent at demonstrating compliance with the new CPD requirements as cranial osteopaths.
