The SCCO offers the highest level of training in cranial osteopathy through our supported learning pathway. The pathway takes you from foundation level right through to advanced practice.

Small groups

SCCO courses offer practical tuition in small tutor groups with a 1:4 tutor: student ratio. This ensures that you get individual guidance and feedback to meet your personal learning needs.

Highly experienced tutors

SCCO tutors are all highly experienced osteopaths with many years of clinical experience in the cranial approach, and have all completed the SCCO tutor training scheme to develop their teaching skills.

Progression with firm foundations

The SCCO offers a balanced and forward thinking approach to osteopathy, where we are grounded in teaching the principles of osteopathy as founded by A. T. Still and developed by W. G. Sutherland, reviewing these principles in the light of modern scientific understanding and knowledge, and progressing our osteopathic understanding with cutting edge ideas and concepts. We encourage osteopaths to explore the full potential of osteopathy.

The whole body

The SCCO is primarily involved with teaching the cranial approach to osteopathy but we place great emphasis in integrating this into a whole body approach to osteopathy, and offer you support to integrate cranial work into your practice.

Osteopaths like you

There is more to the SCCO than our courses. The college is a friendly community of like-minded osteopaths who inspire each other by sharing their learning journey, making learning enjoyable.

GOsC compliant training

The SCCO is reviewing all of its courses with respect to the GOsC’s new CPD scheme. We plan to map our courses onto the four themes of the Osteopathic Practice Standards document to help students show the relevance of their learning to practice. We are also considering how the SCCO can help osteopaths to comply with the CPD scheme in terms of the requirement for ‘objective activities’, building on our existing use of case studies in the Pathway and the Paediatric Diploma.

The SCCO has a programme of research and research education and also aims to educate the public about the benefits of osteopathy.
