A new safe space to discuss and share paediatric osteopathy
As a result of a recent project – originally part of an ODG leadership course – a Paediatric Special Interest Group called the Children’s Osteopathic Forum (COForum) has been set up.
Our idea is to have a private space (away from Facebook / social media) to provide an inclusive, collaborative environment for Osteopaths working in paediatric healthcare to share knowledge with colleagues in this field and provide support
We hope this hub will provide a forum to share up to date information and online resources, and may become an invaluable trusted network of professional and personal support.
Osteopaths working with children are invited to use this space to discuss tricky paediatric cases, ask questions, discuss issues and share tips and thoughts re: infection control and screening, risk assessment, consent, etc when seeing children and families.
It could also be a place to ask for local colleagues to refer patients and possibly set up collegial elearning in the future.
Our aim to include all osteopaths routinely working with children, with no affiliation with any one group/post graduate course with colleagues who moderate from different educational institutions.
We’d love you to join COForum – we’re launching a very basic website to invite osteopaths to our forum, which will be hosted on SLACK – a free platform workspace with a secure, enterprise-grade environment with organised conversations and a searchable history. Members can send messages and share files in the various threads that have been set up. It might be initially daunting to use a new discussion set up, but we’ve been using it ourselves and found it to be well organised and set out.
If you’d like to share your experience and learning with peers and colleagues, please join us as we build the Children’s Osteopathic Forum by going to this link for the COForum and filling in the form to register.
Hope to see you there soon,
Mark Wilson
