Description
New anatomical evidence for the existence of the meridians described in traditional Chinese medicine should be viewed as a missing link in osteopathic theory and methods. An integrated model of osteopathy and energetics elucidates many new relationships between organ, spine, limb and cranial structures. This work represents a fundamentally different approach to altering structure, function and fluid movement.
In this Course, students will learn unique skills like adjusting the position of the heart; understand relationships between organs and cranial structures; make dynamic, whole body adjustments of somatic and organ systems using the upper limb; explore new ways of unlocking human potential by expanding our Cranial concept; learn meditations, postures and movements for the organs and their associated meridians and vertebrae. We will also cover postures and meditations for the eight spiritual meridians. No prior knowledge of acupuncture is assumed. By coupling a few points in the distal extremities with conceptual insights from energetic traditions, many new vistas in osteopathy unfold. Registrants will learn a new paradigm in therapeutic exercise directly articulated with the new concepts for osteopathic treatment. Internet-based video references for the exercises and meditations will be included, along with course materials. Brief lectures with long practicals lend themselves to an experiential, rather than academic, exploration of the material.
