It is expected that you are already treating children in your own practice. A current Enhanced DBS certificate and Safeguarding of Children level 2 or above (or equivalent from the country in which you reside and practice) is required; a copy of which should be supplied to our office.

“Growing a Frame” – Understanding Structure and motor
A baby begins life dependent on the surface beneath them, with limited control over movement. Gradually, through growth, purposeful use and neurological development, movement emerges.
It is a remarkable journey that reflects the close relationship and ballet between the developing brain and the musculoskeletal system.
This fascinating course explores growth and development of the musculoskeletal system from birth to 12 years of age alongside the evolution of purposeful movement and motor development.
Participants will gain insight into how structural growth and brain development work together throughout childhood development. The course will examine key areas
- The head
- The spine
- The limbs
- The face
The learning focus will be:
- Musculoskeletal growth from infancy through childhood
- Motor development and purposeful movement
- Relationship between brain and physical structure
- The processes including disease that change growth in childhood
- Key developmental stages from 0-12 years of age
- Osteopathic perspective on paediatric growth, function and treatment
An engaging and clinically relevant course for practitioners interested in Paediatric osteopathy, growth, movement and development and for understanding why your adult patients have the musculoskeletal frame that they do.
SCCO Course Providers: All SCCO courses are run by a resident Course Director, who is an Osteopath and a member of the SCCO Faculty. Pathway courses are delivered by SCCO Faculty and may be supported by guest speakers. Short courses are usually delivered by a visiting guest lecturer. SCCO Faculty members all hold recognised osteopathic qualifications but may not be GOSC registered osteopaths.
